Project Summary
The owner of Healing the Hurt Therapeutic Massage Therapy, Aire Alitovska, was looking to create a space that further supported her client’s health and well-being beyond the massage benefits of reducing stress, pain, and muscle tension. She also needed storage. We suggested designing a salt wall in such a way as to accommodate the two shelving units.
The addition of Himalayan salt wall takes massage therapy to the next level! When warmed, the negative ions in the salt neutralize the air creating a soothing and luxurious atmosphere. While the natural qualities of Himalayan salt help to stimulate the respiratory system to improve breathing, reduce inflammation, and clear mucus.
The new wall sets the sets a tone and environment of calmness and relaxation that immediately puts her clients at ease and compliments her massage offerings as a component of whole-body wellness.
Construction Details
Healing The Hurt’s Himalayan salt wall was custom-designed to include 2 shelving units as part of the wall. It was constructed using over 230 Himalayan salt bricks imported from Pakistan’s Himalayan Mountains. Frames were built to contain the nominal 5lb. 4”x8”x2'‘ bricks.
Initially the 3000 kelvin lighting (warm light) we use in our installs was on back order, so Aire asked that we use any lighting, because her electrician said there was not any difference. The lights did not light the salt evenly, creating lines of dark shadows. We ended up removing these lights and installing our lights, after the wall was built. Not only is the wall beautifully illuminated with the lights we designed as part of the system, but by evenly lighting the wall ensures all the salt bricks are warmed to provide for maximum health benefits.
The salt wall installation was designed so that it can be removed and taken to another location if desired.
